Christmas Here and Gone

Christmas snuck up on us this year pretty quick, and before you know it the day was come and gone. But we were able to enjoy our short holiday filled with love laughter and lots of toys for Addie Belle. She was so spoiled for christmas! Her grandparents sure do love her! Of course some of the toys she got had to be airplanes because of her daddy. But her very favorite toy of the year was her baby doll that cost $1.oo! She was so excited when she opened it that she squealed and loved it and kissed it all over.
Christmas night we went to Tommy's parent's house for dinner and the newly integrated Davis Family Variety Show. But before we could get to the party Tommy and I had our annual arguement about whether we wear our PJ's or if we dress up and as usual I win and we get dressed because when we get there everyone else is dressed just like they are every year.
The variety show was so cute! Melisa and Mike and their kids sang The 12 Days of Christmas just so Piper could sing the part "11 Pipers piping!" Plus Ally and Aubree and Ryan sang "Do you Hear What I Hear" and man do they have pretty voices. I was in tears I was so touched by thier song. And what would Christmas be without the Nativity scene. Jenny bought all the costumes and all the kids endured the story while their parents shouted directions to all of them.
This year was so much fun and Tommy and I didn't notice that we didn't spoil each other with a bunch of stuff. I think it was more fun and memorable that way. I am so grateful for everyone in my family and their generosity to Tommy, Addie Belle and I. Thank you all so much! Love You! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!!!

Happy Holidays!

This year christmas is going to be very small for our little family. I have been thinking and worrying a lot about money this year. We don't have a lot and I think that is why I am so worried about it. Even though my daughter is tiny and doesn't care or understand anything about how much toys cost I still feel bad that I can't give her all the things that other more well established families can. It reminds of something my very wise father in law told me and my husband. He said that our generation doesn't have the patience that past generations have had because we see what our parents spent a lifetime trying to get to and think that they we should ahve what they have now. Isn't true though? It is hard to go from the comfort of your parents home with no bills and then have to struggle and grow up and be patient. Our prophet Thomas S. Monson gave a talk in the last conference about finding joy in the journey. I know that his talk was meant for me. He quoted the musical The Music Man "You pile up enough tomorrows, and you'll find you've collected a lot of empty yesterdays." This is exactly what I have been doing!! I am so concerned about the future that at the end of the week I find myself wondering where all my time went and how I didn't do anything for anyone and I didn't relish the time I had with my family. So this holiday season I am going about everything differently. I don't care if I don't get any christmas presents from my husband or family. I am just so grateful that I have the love of my life for all eternity and that we have a beautiful daughter who makes getting up every morning a joy! I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and remind you all to live in today so that when tomorrow comes you have lots of fun memories and not a lot of empty yesterdays full of regret.

Twilight Bonanza!!

Tommy and I have not been on a date in a long time. So on Saturday my mom babysat Addie Belle while we went to dinner and a movie with Pete and Kimi. It was so much fun! We ate at Fire House and we ate til we all almost exploded. Then we went to a movie I have been dying to see... TWILIGHT!

I am a total Twilight fan!! At first Tommy didn't want me to read the books because all of his friends' wives were totally obessed with the books so he was very clear on the fact that I couldn't read them. But he finally caved and I had to promise to not become a twilight freak (which I am not). Anyway, he promised to take me to the movie when it came out and he made fun of me so bad because I bought the tickets a week in advance. But if I bought the tickets later we would have been totally screwed! But the coolest thing about going to the movie was that he actually liked it!!! He said and I quote "That is one of the best movies I have ever seen!" So now he keeps asking about the whole series and so now I can probably get him to at least listen to the books on CD. So all you men out there who think your wife is stupid for reading and seeing twilight, you are wrong and you should suck it up and take your wife to the movie cuz you'll end up liking it!!
The picture by the way, is Addie calling grandma to come over to babysit her. Cute huh!

Cute and Funny Family Stories

Yesterday we went to Tommy's brother's ward to watch his baby girl get blessed and the funniest thing happened. The Bishopric counselor got up to announce that they were blessing their baby and he said that the Davis family would be blessing their infant son and his name is Ollie Kent Davis. Well, my niece's name is Ollie Kent Davis but she sure is not a boy! It was so sunny and I felt so bad for BJ and Kelli but I felt even worse for the bishopric counselor.

We have two cute nephews Davis and Nate that are brothers and they love Addie B so much! The other day Nate says to his mom:

"Mom who would you rather have, Lincoln, Addie, or Libby?"

Amy says back to him, "I don't know who would you rather have?"

and Nate replies "Addie of course!"

Isn't that the cutest! And yesterday he and Gabby spent the whole day playing with Addie. It is just so cute to see Addie building good relationships with her cousins!

So, we have the cutest 13 month old in the whole world! I just finished changing the toilet paper roll and left the bathroom door open. Boy was that the biggest mistake I've ever made as you can see. She got the whole roll off in about 0.25 seconds! But we love our little midgy any way.

This is our very first posting for our blog. We have a lot of fine tuning to make this blog cute and fun so don't judge us by our amatuer simplicity.
